Bowling (trip 2)

Today we went bowling. We all improved this week. Our scores were much higher and we each got a strike at least once today.

Game 1
Game 2
Timothy finding a new use for the finger dryer. Only my child would do this.  :-)

We were also complimented on our bowling manners. The lady next to us was a serious bowler with all of her own equipment, and as she was leaving, she stopped to tell me that she enjoyed bowling next to us because my boys had great bowling manners and always waited their turn. So, I might not be the best teacher as far as HOW to bowl is concerned, but by God, we've got the bowling etiquette down pat!

Scooby Doo

If Scooby Doo has taught us anything, it's that ghosts aren't real and that dogs can talk.

Improvising

How we play without our toys. :-)

Today (a list)

-Went to the doctor for a check on Timothy's leg. As she was leaving, he told the nurse "thank you for not squeezing my arm." (with a blood pressure cuff)
-Took the doctor and pharmacist's advice and had Timothy's medicine flavored. It tastes like disgusting medicine that makes your tongue tingle with a hint of bubblegum aftertaste. YUM. (Timothy says it's HOT)
-Thomas said he was a Tron program and put one of my bangle bracelets in the back of his shirt. It was his Tron disk. (don't know much about Tron but I'll take his word for it)
-We watched some diving trials for the Olympics and learned a few new words like synchro.
-I promised Brian a blog shout-out for sharing a platter with me at Landry's on Saturday, so here it is: SHOUT OUT!
-Speaking of Brian, he ordered us a new microwave handle today. Yay!

What an exciting summer day!

A New Toy

We've been playing with our new toy today. The best $10 water toy out there! Tons of fun!  :-)

Summer Bowling

We went to the bowling alley today to bowl for the first time this summer. We've only been one time before (over spring break) and the boys' bowling skills have improved. I'd take credit for that but they both out-score me with their weird ways of bowling (and me actually trying).

Timothy walks out to the lane, sits down, I put his ball in front of him, then we both give it a push down the lane.
Thomas walks out to the lane, backs up a few steps, then runs a few steps to release his ball on the lane.

Movie Day

Wednesdays are movie days around here. Today's movie was Rio.
(Not to be confused with our neighbor Rhia) (like Timothy did all morning) ("I go play Rhia?" No. We're going to SEE Rio) ("Rhia?" No. RiO.) (ALL. MORNING.) Anyway, here they are with our movie tickets.

Self Portrait

We decided to get a picture of all 3 of us this afternoon.

We're cracking up in the picture because our first 2 attempts looked like this:

Summer Jar #1

We have no plans for today so I pulled out the summer jar. The summer jar has 20-30 activities in it. Some are simple (like today's) and some involve a little more planning. This morning, Thomas pulled out "do a hidden picture from the highlights website." So that's what we did. And he really enjoyed the whole process; the jar, printing the picture, and finding the objects.

Swim

Swim lessons have made quite the impression on the boys. Thomas gets to do 2 jumps at the end of his lesson. 1 normal jump and 1 crazy jump. This is his especially crazy jump from yesterday. Even his teacher wasn't expecting all this.
Timothy had the chance to get a ring underwater at his lesson yesterday but he couldn't get it. It must have bothered him because he's told me about it several times. He's also thought it over and decided that he needs GOBBLES (goggles) in order to be successful at getting the ring.
We'll try the GOBBLES today and see how it goes.  :-)

Repair day

No pictures today. Dad and Brian repaired our a/c and clogged drains. They were sweaty and gross so I didn't pull out the camera.
And I had to get my car repaired. So it was a repair day all around.

Handy Man

Yesterday, Brian took Thomas to Lowe's for a kid's build class. Thomas built a Madagascar themed airplane. He got to use a hammer and he did a great job following the instructions and getting his plane put together just right! He is so proud of what he built and can't wait to go back and build something else.
He called PawPaw to tell him about his airplane and he told PawPaw that maybe he could look at his airplane and copy it so Timothy could have one too. I thought that was sweet of him. :-)

Damn Ol' Bug

A cute video of Timothy with a dead "friend" in the garage. And, yes, you're hearing him say "Damn ol' cock-a-roach"!

MYO Pizza

Tonight was Make Your Own Pizza night for dinner. I cut our dough into 3 pieces - the extra large piece is for the boys to share. I like mine with sliced tomatoes, cheese, olive oil, and fresh basil. The kids have sauce and cheese only. And Brian doesn't count a meal as dinner unless it includes meat, so he gets sauce, cheese, and baby pepperonis.
First, you spread the sauce on 2 of the pieces.

Then you add a generous amount of cheese. (And eat any cheese that spills on the table)

Next, you sprinkle pepperonis on dad's piece (and eat some of those too).

Finally, when it comes out of the oven, enjoy!

Raining

Our swim lessons got rained out today. Here's Timothy having a little talk about his feelings on thunder (and rain).

Life

Today during Timothy's nap, Thomas asked me to teach him how to play the game of Life. It's one of my favorite games and now it's one of his favorites too. Thomas' life (according to today's game):
Accountant
80,000 salary
Tudor style home
Married
Twin boys
Another boy
Baby girl
Wow!  What a life! He had a lot of children (so many that his little car was full).

Lazy Tuesday

Today we didn't do much. MiMi and MawMaw came over to visit and have lunch and we showed off our backyard swimming skills to them. Both boys were hungry all day today. I can't keep them full.
We had swim lessons tonight and both boys did so well. We're so proud of them. Timothy got right in, sat on the step, and did everything that he was asked to do. He was, hands-down, the best listener in his class. Thomas did great too. He dove down to the bottom and got the ring every time. He was proud of himself that he did so much better tonight.
We're hoping for rain the next few days, but also hoping that it will clear off during swim lesson time each night so we can keep going and getting better.
Here's Thomas with his instructor.

Swim lessons 2012

Tonight was our first swim lesson of the year. It was Timothy's first lesson ever and it was rough. He REFUSED to get in the pool at all at first. He sat on the side in my lap. About 10 minutes into the lesson I just handed him off to the teacher and she took him out in the pool. He did fine. No tears; he was smiling. She brought him back to the side but he still wouldn't sit in the water. Meanwhile, every other kid in the class is showing off their kicking and splashing skills while we're all sitting on the steps of the pool, so I'm drenched. After the second time of Timothy's teacher taking him out in the pool, she asked him to sit on the step in the water. AND HE DID. FOR HER. Turd. He did the rest of the activities just fine. After he jumped in and let Miss Rachel catch him he remembered that I told him that we would go get ice cream if he would just get in the pool (this was at the beginning of the lesson when he was crying and not getting in) so he got out after his jump and said, "I go get ice cream now." Again, turd.
Thomas did okay but he's in a more advanced class that requires him to go under A LOT. He's not a big fan of that. He describes it as, "the water is too strong and it keeps pushing my tummy back and back and back and then I couldn't breathe." So he got ice cream too for enduring such a challenge. :-)
The video is of the end of Timothy's lesson when he willingly jumped in the pool several times. Turd.

In our new pool thanks to MiMi. :-)

First day (night) of summer

I'm going to attempt to post what we did every day this summer. Probably not on the weekends and some days may get away from me, but I'm going to TRY.
Today was my last day of work so summer started at noon. Tonight we are having movie night with every pillow we own and a lot of our stuffed critters too. Thomas and Timothy created the pillow pile all by themselves. The Muppets are coming on so that's all for tonight!
