Tonight was our first swim lesson of the year. It was Timothy's first lesson ever and it was rough. He REFUSED to get in the pool at all at first. He sat on the side in my lap. About 10 minutes into the lesson I just handed him off to the teacher and she took him out in the pool. He did fine. No tears; he was smiling. She brought him back to the side but he still wouldn't sit in the water. Meanwhile, every other kid in the class is showing off their kicking and splashing skills while we're all sitting on the steps of the pool, so I'm drenched. After the second time of Timothy's teacher taking him out in the pool, she asked him to sit on the step in the water. AND HE DID. FOR HER. Turd. He did the rest of the activities just fine. After he jumped in and let Miss Rachel catch him he remembered that I told him that we would go get ice cream if he would just get in the pool (this was at the beginning of the lesson when he was crying and not getting in) so he got out after his jump and said, "I go get ice cream now." Again, turd.
Thomas did okay but he's in a more advanced class that requires him to go under A LOT. He's not a big fan of that. He describes it as, "the water is too strong and it keeps pushing my tummy back and back and back and then I couldn't breathe." So he got ice cream too for enduring such a challenge. :-)
The video is of the end of Timothy's lesson when he willingly jumped in the pool several times. Turd.
