Beer

Thomas got a root beer at Chili's today. He had a great time pretending that he was drinking beer from a bottle. :-)

Imagination

Timothy moves the bench and the ottoman. Then he sits in the little space that he created and calls it his "hot tub."

Belly flopper

Things I never thought I'd say, that I said this morning:

1. How did you get toothpaste on the back of your neck?
2. That flap on your underwear is not a pocket.
3. What do you have in your "underwear pocket?"

So needless to say, we were all watching the clock, just waiting for it to hit 12:00 so we could go to the pool. We stayed for 2 glorious hours then came home for naps.

Here's the best belly-flopper in the west. He makes all the lifeguards wince and laugh many times each pool visit.

Tiny mode

Remember how fluffy Charlie was?
He got a haircut today. Timothy says he went into tiny mode.
I had a photo-bomber on my hands as well.

Class

I've been in class for 2 days learning brain-based teaching strategies. Day 1, they tried to teach us how to juggle. I was not successful. Day 2, we had a rock, paper, scissors competition that I won. (against 44 other people)
This is the music they play while we fill in a handout.

We're pretty WILD, I know.

Timmy tumbles

Timmy got the chance to tumble a little bit at gymnastics today. He was so excited and smiling from ear to ear once class was over.

Summer Fun Jar 2

Today the boys drew out a paper that said "make sno-cones at home."
We used Thomas' icee maker to make Sunkist flavored sno-cones.
Turning that crank was a lot of work!

Sunday Funday

After dinner sprinkler fun.

Fluffy

The humidity does nothing for my hair. Apparently, it does nothing for Charlie either. Poor dog likes to get wet to cool down, but when he dries out, he looks like a giant fluff ball. He has an appt for a haircut on Thursday so he'll go down to less than half the size he is right now.

Yippie it's Thursday

Today we went to Chick fil A for breakfast. And that is the time to go, I tell you. The boys had the play area to themselves for a whole hour. None of the soccer moms were finished with their workouts yet, so I had my pick of table in that place. It was awesome!
We came home and played (well really, I crafted, they played), then we went to lunch and to Michael's with Mimi. She took Thomas home with her for the night so me and Timmy got to play.
We bought this cute gecko sprinkler at Michael's. It was a blast. Even Charlie enjoyed cooling down in the water.
When Brian got home this evening, we had dinner, then went and got half-price shakes from Sonic. So, it was a pretty good Thursday today.

Chuck

Today we went to visit everyone's favorite giant mouse at Chuck E Cheese. We met one of Thomas' friends there and the boys played for a couple of hours while us moms got to sit and chat. It was a win for everyone!

Summer Fun Jar 1

Today we had no plans so I got out the summer fun jar. The boys pulled out an activity. The one they grabbed today was water balloon pinatas.
I only got one picture of the pinatas in action because I was the string holder, but it was fun and the boys got pretty wet. (which equals fun for them)

Growing Up

Since Thomas was teeny tiny, whenever we've had Chinese food, I've made up his fortune. Now I do it for Timothy also. They open their cookies and hand me the fortune and ask me to read it to them.
I always say something like, "You will have ice cream for dessert," or "Tomorrow you will go to the movies." I just make it up to say something true that applies to them. It's been a great trick because they both exclaim, "How did it KNOW that!?!"
Since Thomas started kindergarten and became a reader, I haven't been able to trick him anymore. Now he reads his own fortune. Then I have to explain what it means to him because it's not as simple as the ones I've been making up.
I had to let him in on my little fortune cookie secret a while back. He thought it was funny that I made them up. He thought it was even funnier that I'm continuing to "trick" Timothy when we go for Chinese.
Now that he's in on my little secret, he winks at me when it's time to make up Timothy's fortune. This is what he did to me at dinner tonight. :-)

Saturday Recap

Today we got up early and had donuts in the truck on our way to pick blackberries.
Timothy eats only the icing off of his donuts.
The boys each got a bucket and went to town picking the biggest, blackest blackberries that they could find. We paid the farmer (only $5!) and brought our blackberries home. We made a cobbler with about half of them. Yum!

Friday Recap

Today we just hung out in the pool all morning. The boys had a great time and it was a good chance for us all to relax.
We ate some wonderful burgers at Tookies and then headed home.

Thursday Recap

Today we saw a family of ducks stranded in the pool when we woke up. They had attracted quite a crowd after breakfast and some guys devised a ramp for them to walk up to get out of the pool.

After the duck excitement, we headed to the Kemah Boardwalk. Me, Dad, and the boys rode rides while Brian and Mom tried to stay in shady areas. The rides were fun. Thomas loved the wagon wheel ride and the swings that go around at the top of a giant pole. Timothy loved the monkey drop ride.

After we rode all the rides, we went over to the Aquarium restaurant. They had a sting ray exhibit under the restaurant where you could feed and pet sting rays. The boys were excited but also a little afraid. Thomas and Mom got pretty wet when an enthusiastic sting ray splashed up on the side of the pool to try and get some food. After that, they just threw the food in the pool and watched the sting rays get it.

We ate lunch there, then went back to the hotel to take naps and swim. A local lady at the pool recommended a Mexican restaurant for us to try for dinner. We went there, to Las Haciendas. It was a brand new restaurant. The food was very good and the drink prices were excellent. However, they had some questionable murals in the women's restroom that none of us could understand.
After dinner, we hung out at the hotel and relaxed.

Wednesday Recap

Today we went to Galveston. We had lunch at Landry's, walked through the rainforest, then spent some time on the beach.
The boys played in their raft, flew kites, dug in the sand, and jumped over waves.
Then we had ice cream on the strand and headed to our hotel. Brian took us for a three-hour tour before dinner at Chili's where Mom and Thomas had a rock, paper, scissors fail.
We swam in the dark at our hotel until bedtime.

Busy Tuesdays

Today was our first "busy Tuesday" of the summer. We see a movie and have popcorn and icees for breakfast on Tuesdays. Today we saw Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.
Then we went to Willies for lunch with Boonpa.
Shopping was next. We needed a few things for our trip.
After a nap and a snack, Timothy had his first gymnastics class. It was cute and he did so great!

(I've done all photo editing on my phone this summer and I'm pretty proud of myself for that)

Today is National Iced Tea Day according to the internet. We celebrated by having some tea in our Uncle Si cups.

Silver Lining

The upside of having sprained toes? Soaking your feet every evening. He says it's reWAXing. :-)

Shoe-see

Today for part of their lunch I made the boys some "cowboy sushi". It's a dill pickle spear with a thin slice of swiss (or cream) cheese on top, wrapped in a piece of ham or turkey.
I told them it was cowboy sushi. I didn't tell them what it was made with. I was SHOCKED when both boys tried it without me even having to ask them to. And they both loved it!
Timothy had some trouble saying sushi. He says "shoe-see". :-)

The Curse

The curse of first-day-of-summer injuries has returned.
Remember when Timmy broke his elbow on the first day of summer in 2011?
Yesterday, MiMi took the boys to Monkey Joes. Timothy jumped off a slide and landed weird on his foot. He limped all night.
Today we went to the doctor and he has 2 sprained toes and some internal inflammation. He has to have his toes taped together for 3 to 5 days.
I'm beyond grateful that nothing is broken and that he doesn't have to have a cast.
Here's hoping that the rest of our summer can be injury-free. :-/

Summer Blogging

Summer has officially begun!
